I haven't yet listened to this album while reading, but it's definitely fitting for anything, whether it's baking, eating making homework or whatever. It creates a fantastical atomosphere of some kind. Toda while making cookies I listened to the soundtrack and so many scenes from the book popped into my head. I don't know if they were the scenes the songs were intended for, as I didn't really look at the titles then, but I do know that I've never had so much fun baking!
My favorite song is "Alethi Code of War". I can't exactly say why, but it just stayed with me since I heard it and it was the irst sng of which I ust HAD to know the title. It's epic but beautiful yet something else too. "Rysn" is really beautiful, specially the flute parts... "The King's Wit" - well, it just always makes me grin. "The Shattered Plains" and "Bridge Four" as well as "The Tower" and "The Knight's Radiant Theme" are thse epic songs where my heart swells out of some weird reason. Additionally, "The Blackthorn" has a calming melody in between the epic parts. I must admit, most f the slower or more quiet songs didn't really stay with me but blended int the background perfectly. I wouldn't be able to remember them, but neither would I skip them during my listen. An exception for the slower songs is "Hearthstone" - it's perfect for Tien. The soft singing gives me chills. Equally beautiful are "Tien" and "Shallan's Lullaby". The latter is honestly breathtaking. "Wandersail" painted the most vivid picture of a scene in my head. "Warrior" is just cool. Nothing more to say.
Wow, so this was much more in-depth than I had planned... Well, whatever. To sum it all up: Beautiful, epic and Stormlight in masses. I don't think you need to know the book to enjoy the soundtrack, but there are definitely moments you will savour because of a thing that happened at that moment in the book. Had that awesome feeling at the "Bridge Four Shield" song.
